Latin America 2014 Mobile Mix™

A follow up from our blog post before the 2014 world cup, this special Mobile Mix report takes a deep dive into the Latin America device market, including charateristics, trends, and forecasts for the region.

Highlights

Smartphone adoption in Latin America has high long-term growth potential. While 19% of the population in the region currently owns a smartphone, this is expected to grow at an average of 29% a year through 2017, 7x the growth rate of mobile phone users.

 

As a result of this growth, mobile advertising spend in the region will follow suit, and is expected to grow at an average of 73% a year through 2017. Argentina will see one of the highest increases in mobile ad spend, 119% a year, followed by Brazil and Mexico.


Android rules the region. 72% of impressions on our platform from Latin America are from Android devices. Some countries, such as Chile, Argentina, and Mexico show above average Android impressions. Venezuela, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic all show above average iOS impressions.
